Summer learning journey Day 4 activity 3

Activity 2: Fighting for Freedom
Mahatma Gandhi was an activist best known for his role in helping India become an independent country in 1947. Prior to this, India was under British rule. During the fight to become free from England, Gandhi (and others) led peaceful protests, marches, and hunger strikes in India. His birthday (2nd October) is widely celebrated in India as the International Day of Nonviolence.
Gandhi originally studied to be a lawyer in London, England. When he completed his studies, he got a job in South Africa where he saw that people were treated differently because of their skin colour. He thought this was unfair and wrong, and so he organised protests to highlight the rights of Indians living in South Africa.
Gandhi impacted the world by using non-violent protest to bring about change. Recently, school students around the world have followed his lead and participated in peaceful protests about climate change. These were started by a girl called Greta Thunberg who, like Gandhi, is using nonviolent protest to try and make a change.

I think Donald Trump building a wall between mexico and america is really bad idea because I think that anybody has the rights to travel to any country in the world. Donald trump is the president, but I think him building a wall to keep out the Mexicans is wrong because what if the Mexicans try and destroy the wall and lots of people get hurt. That's why I think building a wall to keep out the Mexicans is a bad idea.

I think that there is a lot of violence that is happening the the world that that is why I wanna try and stop it. If we don't do anything to try and stop the violence happening in the world there is going to be a lot of violence happening everywhere.

Summer learning journey Day 3 activity 1- the water project

The Water Project
lots of people have clean free water everyday but not these countries Rajasthan , India and sub Saharan Africa. Everyday one person out of eight people go and search for anything that they can drink and they bring buckets or anything that they can store water in. These countries do not have access to clean water so drink water that is contaminated by animals and humans which is brown water. Some water is some feet under ground so if they just dig down will get fresh water or they can just cover it with dirt so they can make more plants
.

Summer learning journey Day 3 activity 3

The person who has made in impact on me is my mum because she has always been there for us when we need. She goes work and then helps do the cleaning and gets us ready for school. She is always there for us like when we are hurt she takes us to the doctors or she does it herself. Summer learning journey Day 2 activity 2

I think that sport girls should be payed the same amount of money as the sports boys because girls play the same sport as the boys and girls are good at all the sports like them. Girls should get the same amount of money because sports boys get a lot of money and girls get less money. Why they should get the same amount of money is because boys and girls play the same sport and there is no difference that's why I think girls should get the same amount of money.

Activity 2: Exploring Our Roots
Taika Waititi is a New Zealand filmmaker, director, actor and comedian. He has produced and/or directed a number
of popular films including “Boy,” “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “Thor: Ragnarok.” As a child, Taika Waititi lived in Raukokore
(a small town on the East Coast of
New Zealand). When he graduated from secondary school Taika moved to Wellington to study drama at Victoria University.
Despite moving away from home, he has
never forgotten his family or his roots (where he comes from).
Speaking of roots, Taika comes from a culturally diverse family.
His dad is Māori (Te Whānau-a-Apanui) and his mother is Russian-Jewish. I, on the other hand, am Pākeha (New Zealand European).
Most of my ancestors come from England. When I talk about who I am, and introduce myself to others, I sometimes use a pepeha.
